Hey Athletic Fans,

This edition's lead story is one of resilience. An Olympic medalist is speaking out for the first time about the sudden cardiac arrest after crossing the finish line two months ago.

Also in this one: a Chinese robot just clocked a top speed faster than Usain Bolt's peak pace and beat his world record time, until an accident.

All that and more in today's edition of Essentially Athletics.

On this day in 2004, Giaan Rooney, Leisel Jones, Petria Thomas, and Jodie Henry ended America's stranglehold on the 4x100m medley relay in the Olympics. They smashed the world record in 3:57.32 to close out Australia's Athens campaign.

Thomas turned the race with a butterfly split of 56.67, the fastest in Olympic history at the time, running down Jenny Thompson. That was before Henry sealed it with the second-fastest freestyle anchor ever swum.
