On August 9, 1984, Valerie Brisco-Hooks won 200m gold at the Los Angeles Olympics in an Olympic record 21.81, holding off teammate and future world record holder Florence Griffith.
That completed the 200m-400m double; the first time anyone, male or female, had ever won both events at the same Games. She wasn't finished either, going on to add a third gold in the 4x400m relay days later.
