Growing up, Felix was known for having a very slim buid, especially her long, thin legs. While training and competing at Los Angeles Baptist High School, her teammates jokingly nicknamed her “Chicken Legs.” It wasn’t meant to be harsh but more of a lighthearted tease. It reflected how she didn’t fit the typical image of a powerful sprinter at the time.
What makes the story stick is what came next. Those same “chicken legs” became one of her greatest assets, helping her develop that signature smooth, efficient stride.
